Earth and Vine

Earth & Vine, our annual fundraiser auction, supports the specialty programs that make our public school unique.  Join us for a night filled with great food, music and community!

Earth & Vine, Alice Birney’s annual auction fundraiser, is moving online! Though we are doing things differently this year, one thing that has not changed is our need for school fundraising. This year’s auction will open on November 28 and run through December 12, giving you the chance to browse and bid at your convenience. We are excited to announce that in addition to items you might expect at Earth & Vine, the auction will include beautiful handcrafted gifts from our school’s talented Winter Faire crafting team. Preview a selection of this year’s items and preregister here on your mobile device (recommended) or computer.

2020 has brought unimaginable challenges. Bringing Waldorf education to distance learning has been our school’s particular challenge. We have worked hard to develop a distance learning curriculum for Handwork (grades 1st-8th) and Eurythmy (1st-6th grade). Our specialty teachers have been creative and tireless in adapting to what is possible in the home environment.  The rituals and traditions of Waldorf education and our school bring comfort to our children in this time of insecurity and bring balance to their time spent on screens. Your contribution to this year’s Fund-A-Need will help fund materials and teaching for the Handwork and Eurythmy classes through this period of distance learning, keeping our head, heart, and hands together until we can open our doors and welcome children back again.

Alice Birney and the programs that make our school so special need your support this year more than ever! Visit  for a sneak peek at a selection of items and preregister to be ready to bid starting November 28.  Please save the dates and start sharing the link to the auction with friends near and far.  You can also follow our Facebook Event page for updates.  We hope you will join us to celebrate and support our Alice Birney community.

About Alice Birney Waldorf eK-8 School
We are a community of families and teachers with a powerful vision: we believe in developing children’s individual talents, nurturing their creativity, and fostering their knowledge and imagination.  These core values are integrated daily into our school’s broad-based Waldorf curriculum, and include drawing, painting, movement, music, gardening, cooking, woodworking, and handwork. This approach, proven for nearly 100 years worldwide, and 21 years in our unique public school in Sacramento, helps to develop creative, well-rounded youth with a lifelong passion for learning. Tax dollars cover much of our public school’s operating costs. However, our unique specialty classes are supported almost entirely by the Alice Birney Guild, our school’s parent-teacher association and a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
