Earth and Vine

Earth and Vine Save the Date April 7, 2018

Join us Saturday, April 7, 2018 for Earth and Vine at a new location to be announced soon! We have some other changes up our sleeves as well. It’s a great time to get involved in Alice Birney’s largest fundraiser of the year. Please consider if you can help with one of the following roles: live auction coordinator, volunteer coordinator, gratitude coordinator, and outreach/marketing coordinator. Contact Amanda at (209) 304-3412 or with questions and to volunteer! Planning will get underway in September.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make Earth and Vine 2017 a great success! It was a fun evening full of good food, local beer and wine, friends, and fundraising for our children’s school! Big congratulations to the Milholms who won this year’s Golden Ticket. The Milholm Family will be going to Costa Rica!

At Alice Birney, we are a community of families and teachers who believe that all children’s individual talents should be developed, their creativity nurtured, and their knowledge and imagination fostered.

In pursuit of these goals, Alice Birney eK-8 School combines the arts with a rigorous academic program that educates the whole children and is guided by the Core Principles of Public Waldorf education. The broad-based curriculum includes drawing, painting, movement, music, gardening, cooking, woodworking, and handcrafts.

This approach, proven for nearly 100 years worldwide and 21 years in our unique public school in Sacramento helps to develop creative, well-rounded youth with a lifelong passion for learning. Most of our specialty classes are supported entirely by the Alice Birney Guild, our school’s parent-teacher association and a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

The reality of what it takes to offer rich, experiential learning to students though the specialty classes is that there is often a budget shortfall for the continuing program costs of a full school-year of these classes for our students. Our goal is to build on our successes as a community and continue to strive for full funding for the specialty arts programs at Alice Birney for every student. Together, it can happen! To preserve what makes Alice Birney special, we need your support.

Thanks to all those who donated, sponsored, volunteered and attended Earth & Vine 2016 – the final numbers are in and this year’s event raised $52,430! The numbers break down as follows: $32,895 for general fund which helps pay for the specialty classes that make our rich, arts-based curriculum so unique and $19,535 for the fund-a-need teacher-mentorship program that will enliven the work of all our faculty, staff and students.
